Matt Axton is a gifted singer/songwriter carrying on a rich family musical legacy. The grandson of Nashville songwriter Mae “Queen Mother of Nashville” Axton (“Heartbreak Hotel”) and son of singer/songwriter/actor Hoyt Axton (“Joy to the World,” “Never Been to Spain”), Matt grew up surrounded by music.
His sound is a distinctive blend of Americana, country, folk, roots, rock, R&B, and pop. With more than 300 original songs and three albums, Matt has built a reputation as a prolific singer, songwriter, and guitarist.
He has recorded with acclaimed musicians including Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Hal Cragin of Iggy Pop, and has collaborated on projects including Abbey Road Reimaged – A Tribute to the Beatles. Matt tours nationally, performing at festivals and iconic venues and opening for artists including Midland, Paul Cauthen, Jim Lauderdale, and Nikki Lane.
